The Foundation would like to spotlight our teachers who are sponsored this year by the generous donations of our patrons to the Foundation.
This year (2023-24) the Foundation is sponsoring: Jennifer Mckelvey (Language Arts), Linda Latuszek (CTAE), and Emily Andriano (Math). Your donations allow us to add additional teachers to keep our classroom sizes small and expand our curriculum to better serve our students!
Mrs. Jennifer (J.J.) Mckelvey of the English Department.
**Mrs. McKelvey is a full-time Foundation instructor in English. We utilized the Foundation funds to alleviate large class sizes in English.**
Jennifer (J. J.) McKelvey is honored to be a part of the Walton High School English department. Before teaching at Walton, Jennifer taught ELA and reading at Hightower Trail Middle School and taught reading at Campbell Middle School. She also spent over 15 years working in post-production, video production, website production, marketing, and corporate communications both in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Jennifer has an undergraduate degree in theater from LaGrange College and a master’s degree in secondary English education from Kennesaw State University.
Jennifer is a Georgia-native and a Walton Raider through and through. Her two stepchildren graduated from Walton in 2010 and 2017; her oldest son graduated in 2022, and her two younger sons currently attend Walton (‘24 and ‘26). When she’s not in the classroom, you will find Jennifer and her husband volunteering with the Walton High School Marching Raider Band. Her children have been members of the Walton marching band since 2018, and she serves on the board of directors of the Walton Band Parent Association. She is thrilled to be part of the Walton family and looks forward to cheering the Raiders on for many years.
Linda Latuszek of the CTAE Department (Career Technical and Agriculture Education).
**Many CTAE pathway classes are growing to keep up with the demand in creative and business industries. Ms. Latuszek teaches Intro to Business and Technology and Banking, Investing & Insurance.
“I had a career in finance for 25 years and earned an MBA while I was working for an asset management company. My experience and education have allowed me to teach Introduction to Business and Investing and Finance at Walton.
After my finance career, I went into education and have been teaching for 15 years. In 2020, I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from KSU. I have taught a variety of courses at the high school and college level. During the summer, I teach English for the KSU TRIO program. The program provides support and resources for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to ensure they graduate from high school and have a plan for their postsecondary life. Students are taken on several college tours and meet with college advisors. The TRIO program also extends its support to their students who enroll in college after high school and dual enrollment students.
I also tutor students privately in English. I have helped many students write their college application essay, prepare for the SAT or ACT in English, and strengthen their reading and writing skills.”
