Foundation Spotlight: Stacy Ambles, Ed. S.

This year the Walton High School Foundation is pleased to support the salaries of two staff members. One of them is guidance counselor and Section 504 coordinator Stacey Ambles, who is new to the Walton family.

“I have 23 years of experience in education. In addition to counseling, I have served as a special education teacher, Army Family Team Building Instructor, and college instructor. I have a master’s degree in school counseling from Mercer and an education specialist degree in educational leadership from Liberty University.

I am married to my wonderful husband Chris, and we have four children. Our oldest daughter attends GSU and is in the Disney College program. Our oldest son attends KSU and is in his second year in the engineering program. Our youngest son is a tenth grader, and our youngest daughter is a seventh grader and cheers for the Jr. Etowah Eagles. I am very happy to be a part of the Walton Family this year!”

Ms. Ambles

The Walton Band has water!

The Walton Band spends hours upon hours on evenings and long weekends rehearsing on the hot pavement near Raider Valley. The Band requested that that the Foundation place a water bottle fountain near the Band room for the hundreds of students who participate in Band and Color Guard to help with their much needed hydration on those long hot summer days. The Foundation was happy to support our Award winning Band and Color Guard!

Remembering Dr. Hugh McLeod

Dr. Hugh McLeod’s service to the Walton community began in 1982 when he started working as an orthopedic surgeon with Walton’s coaches. He provided strength and conditioning instruction to prevent injuries among Walton’s athletes and created Georgia’s first high school-based Sports Medicine program.

In recognition of his numerous contributions to Walton sports, the Sports Medicine program was renamed the Hugh McLeod MD Wellness Complex and Sports Medicine Center in 2001. Although Dr. McLeod passed away in 2011, his legacy lives on through his family. His wife, Leslie, and daughter, Lauren, have continued to support the wellness aspect of Dr. McLeod’s vision.

Leslie and Lauren McLeod also created the beautiful Legacy Garden, which, after our remodel, now holds a prominent location behind the dining hall. This serene space, featuring a white pergola, graceful Japanese maples, flowers, and benches, offers a peaceful retreat for students and staff. Mrs. Leslie McLeod continues to care for the garden, ensuring it remains a place of respite and beauty.

These are just a few highlights of the tremendous impact the McLeod family has had on our Walton community. The Foundation is collaborating with Mrs. McLeod on repairs and continued beautification of the Legacy Garden. We are deeply grateful to the McLeod family for their ongoing support of Walton High School.
