Dynamic DNA Models for Science Courses

January 30, 2021

Dr Tina Link was able to purchase 18 Dynamic DNA Kits from 3D Molecular Designs with 2021-21 teacher grant funds from Publix and Kroger donations for Walton’s Science courses to allow them to study DNA by twisting, untwisting, replicating, and transcribing DNA.

Tuning Devices for Band Courses

January 30, 2021

Band teacher, Chris Johns, was able to purchase 6 chromatic tuners and 6 tuner pickup devices with 2021-21 teacher grant funds from Publix and Kroger donations for Walton’s Band courses to allow  the Band Dept to provide differentiated intonation feedback and instruction.

The Korg CA-50 Chromatic Tuner features an output jack, large LCD screen, adjustable calibration range, built-in reference tones, microphone, speaker, and a folding stand. It has a detection range of A0 (27.50 Hz) to C8 (4186.01 Hz). For wind instruments from piccolo to tuba, or string instruments from violin to contrabass, you can tune band or orchestral instruments of any pitch range.

The Peterson Strobe Pitchgrabber Active Clip-on Pickup device easily and safely clamps on to virtually any musical instrument and captures the vibrations of the instrument rather than its acoustic sound and determines the pitch using its piezo pickup, sending it directly to your tuning device or your smartphone. It uses the headphone/mic input of your mobile device to completely isolate the sound of your instrument and provide a direct input path to your tuning device or application on your smart phone. Perfect for tuning in noisy environments.
