The Walton Student Leadership Council was formed in May, 2016. Students are selected by an application process. The SLC has approximately 40 students who develop ideas to help the Foundation raise funds for their school. During the 2017-2018 school year, these students raised over $13,000 for their school. They proudly and successfully brought a Homecoming Dance back to Walton. The funds from this event will be used to build one of the planned educational gardens on our campus. SLC also coordinated the sales, ordering and distribution of Survival Kits as well as planning a Pajama Day where the funds raised were donated to the Cobb Center for Young Adults.
In addition to these fundraising efforts they serve as representatives of the student body at special events. This year, we participated in Georgia's Junior Achievement High School Leaders Program for the second year. Twenty-six (26) of our students participated in this program. Our students provided an educational training for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students at Powers Ferry Elementary. The photos below are from our JA for a Day Program from the past two years.
